What it is
UAE companies must keep a register of the individuals who ultimately own or control them, and file it with their licensing authority. Banks increasingly ask to see it too.
Who is a beneficial owner
- Anyone who owns or controls 25% or more of the company, directly or through other companies
- Anyone with 25% or more of the voting rights
- Anyone who controls the company by other means
- If no one qualifies, the senior managing official
When to update it
Within 15 days of any change — a share transfer, a new partner, a change in the group above you. Missing or late filings can lead to fines.
